A featured tree is the Cedar of Lebanon, native to the eastern Mediterranean region where it has been utilized for millennia. The Phoenicians used it for construction; it was traded to the ancient Egyptians; it played a crucial role in the building endeavors of the Greek and Roman empires. The Cedar of Lebanon is revered and so integral to the identity of the region that its image is featured on the Lebanese national flag. This tour will include walking on hilly terrain off of paved pathways.
